Mevlana Museum and tomb are located in the Mevlana Dervish Lodge in the Karatay district of Konya. Opened as the "Konya Asâr-ı Atîka Museum" after the declaration of the Republic in 1926, this museum was renamed as the Mevlana Museum with the arrangements made in 1954.

The museum is located in a historical rose garden in the Karatay district. Sultan Alaeddin Keykubat presented this garden to Mevlana's father, Sultanü'l-Ulemâ Bahaeddin Veled. Bahaeddin Veled was buried here when he died in 1231. Mevlana refused to have a mausoleum built over his grave upon the request of his loved ones and did not accept this proposal, saying, "Could there be a more beautiful mausoleum than the sky?" However, after Mevlana's death in 1273, his son Sultan Veled had a mausoleum built over his father's grave. Built in 1274 by the architect Tabrizli Bedrettin, this mausoleum is known as the "Kubbe-i Hadra" (Green Dome) and is built on four elephant feet.

The central structure of the Mevlana Museum houses the tomb of Hz. Mevlana. The museum courtyard is reached by passing through the "Dervish Gate". While there are dervish cells in the north and west parts of the courtyard, the south side ends with the Hamushan (Susmuslar) Gate, which opens to the Üçler Cemetery after the matbah and the Hurrem Pasha Tomb. In the east, there are the tombs of Sinan Pasha, Fatma Hatun and Hasan Pasha; in addition, there is a semahane, a mescit section and the main structure where the graves of Mevlana and his family are located. In the courtyard, there is the fountain built by Yavuz Sultan Selim in 1512 and the "Şeb-i Arûs" pool, while in the north there is a fountain called "Selsebil".

Today, the museum area, including the landscaped rose gardens, has a total area of 18 thousand square meters.

Rediscover your inner peace.
